The Boston Dragon Boat Race attracts racers from all along the east coast, from Canada down to Florida, and it is the largest race of its kind in the United States.
Every year in June, the fiberglass dragon boats head down the Charles River during the Boston Dragon Boat Festival. Honoring the life and death of Qu Yuan, an ancient patriot-poet, the festival promotes education of Asian-American heritage in New England. The multi-day celebration features various dragon boat races, drum dances, music, lion dances, demonstrations and more.
