Why not do something different this year and come and spend Memorial Day in Boston? We’ve got the scoop on some of the top events.
The Garden of Flags in Boston is a signature community event. Volunteers in the hundreds create a spectacular garden of flags to commemorate Memorial Day right on Boston Common. The area at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument is covered in flags; each one represents the life of a Massachusetts veteran who died in service to our country, from present day all the way back to Paul Revere’s ride.
This Memorial Day ceremony in Boston will be on May 26, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony includes families of those who died during service who read out their loved one’s names in front of the Boston Common flag display.
To honor our veterans, head to the USS Constitution Museum during Memorial Day weekend, May 28 – 30, 2016. Learn about the severe conditions service men and women endured while they fought in the War of 1812. Join a tour of the USS Constitution with a real Navy sailor. For the entire weekend, admission is free for active, retired and reserved military personnel.
